SUMMARY:StoryWalk Sunday
DESCRIPTION:The story posted on the StoryWalk® trail at Pine Hill Park changes regularly\, and a special story event accompanies each one on the second Sunday of select months. \n\n\n\nThe book for August is “My Busy Green Garden” by Terry Pierce\, with rich illustrations by Carol Schwartz. This wonderful children’s book was held over for the summer as a colorful testament to the season of gardens. \n\n\n\nKids will join a guided walk along the story trail as they read the book\, then make a special craft project to take home. \n\n\n\nThis lovely book is a lyrical tribute to the bugs\, bees\, and birds that make the garden such a busy place. With each page more garden visitors appear\, while a “surprise\, in clever disguise” changes unnoticed until\, on the last page\, a butterfly emerges and flies away across the garden’s well-tended borders. During the story\, a chipmunk “hides” on every page to engage young readers. \n\n\n\nPre-registration required by August 9th. \n\n\n\nFind more information and register HERE.

SUMMARY:Textile Arts Summer Camp
DESCRIPTION:The Textile Arts camp is designed for students who have completed grade 3 through age 17.Students should pack a lunch and beverage. \n\n\n\nDuring the five-day camp\, students will choose what color to dye a skein of yarn for a weaving project\, and learn how to dye the yarn. They will each make a unique potholder to take home\, and also learn about methods of felting wool. They will use “wet felting” to create a useful felted container. They will learn “needle felting” and create their own needle-felted name tag or decorative pin. \n\n\n\nOver the course of two or three days\, students will work on their major weaving project. Using individual table looms\, students will create a beautiful infinity scarf or cowl with their own dyed yarn. \n\n\n\nAll materials are included in the camp fee\, and each student will take home their completed projects. \n\n\n\nRegister HERE.

SUMMARY:Nature Journaling Camp
DESCRIPTION:During this 3-day camp\, students will get in touch with nature through observation\, recording what they see with writing and drawing\, and learning about the science of what’s happening in nature while immersing themselves in the beauty of the natural world. \n\n\n\nThrough observation\, awareness and attention to detail\, students explore such things as animal tracks\, seed pods\, insects\, wildlife\, weather and all kinds of plant life. By committing observations to paper\, campers deepen their connection to nature. Journaling also captures the essence of the moment—the scent of pine\, the crunch of earth underfoot\, and the fresh air against your skin. \n\n\n\nEach camper should bring a journal—a small notebook with blank paper works fine. Students are encouraged to personalize their journal with cover decorations and their name. \n\n\n\nRegister HERE.
