DESCRIPTION:Please read the information below and respond by August 28th to Dave Kamsler at cdkamsler@comcast.net or (717) 495-8451 whether or not you will be attending a class(es)\, or if you have any questions. \n\n\n\nIntroduction to Fishing and Spin Fishing Class \n\n\n\n1.     WHEN – Saturday\, September 6th. Registration – 8:30 am. Class – 9:00 am to 11:30 am. \n\n\n\n2.     WHERE: Orvis Hill Country\, 519 Gladhill Rd\, Fairfield\, PA 17320. The site is about a 25-minute drive from Gettysburg. \n\n\n\n3.     WHAT: \n\n\n\n\nThe Introduction to Fishing segment will cover: Types of Fishing\, Reel Types\, Casting\, Setting the Hook\, Fighting and Landing Fish\, Packing for a Fishing Trip\, Where to Fish\, and Common Knots.\n\n\n\nThe Spin Fishing segment will cover: What is Spin Fishing\, Gear\, Spin Fishing Techniques\, Lures\, Fish Behavior and Safety.\n\n\n\n\n4.     Sessions: The class is planned to be held indoors/outdoors\, starting with a discussion following the topics in a handout. Then casting on the grass and on the water. \n\n\n\nIntroduction to Fly Fishing Class \n\n\n\n1.     WHEN – Saturday\, September 27th. Registration – 8:30 am. Class – 9:00 am to 1:00 pm\, with ½ hour lunch break. \n\n\n\n2.     WHERE: Orvis Hill Country\, 519 Gladhill Rd\, Fairfield\, PA 17320. The site is about a 25-minute drive from Gettysburg. \n\n\n\n3.     WHAT: \n\n\n\n\nSessions: Indoor classroom instruction\, casting practice on grass\, and casting on the pond.\n\n\n\nClassroom instruction: Equipment\, Fly Lines\, Nymph and Dry Fly Fishing\, Techniques\, Knots\, and Trout Menu.\n\n\n\n\nNotes: \n\n\n\nChildren under 18 years old must be accompanied by adult or guardian. \n\n\n\nBring your drinks\, snacks and lunch\, as needed. \n\n\n\nAll gear and equipment will be provided\, but if you have equipment that you would like to use\, feel free to bring it.

SUMMARY:Fly Fishing Adventure Camp 2025
DESCRIPTION:Area students are invited to join Buttonwood Nature Center at Orvis Hill Country for a 2-day outdoor adventure camp—learn all about fly fishing\, the art of fly-tying and so much more on the beautiful property of Orvis Hill Country. \n\n\n\nExperience the joy of fly fishing as you spend two days outside. Learn the various skills needed for fly fishing such as fly tying and fly casting while you delve into limnology\, freshwater biology and the aquatic critters that live there. Spend some time exploring the area during a hike around the grounds of Orvis Hill Country. \n\n\n\nThe camp is part of Buttonwood’s series of DISCOVER programs for students in grades 5–12 (ages 10 to 17)\, and the program combines fly fishing with earth science\, limnology and biology. \n\n\n\nThe camp runs for two days\, Wednesday and Thursday\, July 9 & 10\, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Three program rotations each day feature a variety of activities; a break for lunch is also part of the schedule. \n\n\n\nWith instruction by Orvis’s fishing experts\, students will learn fly fishing essentials like rod rigging and essential knots\, gear and tackle\, stream entomology\, fly selection\, how to “read water\,” and how to play\, land\, and safely release fish.  \n\n\n\nRegister HERE.
