Do you love the outdoors and care about preserving Pennsylvania’s past? Join us for:
Saving the Past for the Future: Historic Resources Monitors Training
📍 Kings Gap Environmental Education Center, Cumberland County, PA
📅 Saturday, July 26th | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
This free, one-day workshop will train volunteers to help identify, monitor, and protect historic and archaeological sites on public lands. You’ll work alongside professional historians, archaeologists, and land managers—and help safeguard our shared heritage in Penn’s Woods.
What to Expect:
✅ Morning classroom session
✅ Afternoon field hike (~2 miles, moderately rugged terrain)
✅ Bring lunch, water, hiking boots & rain gear
✅ Be ready to carpool for the hike (point-to-point route)
Who Can Attend?
• Adults 18+ with outdoor experience and map-reading skills
• Minors (12–17) allowed only with a participating adult
• Especially seeking members of state park/forest friends groups & AT trail clubs
