Insects are the most diverse and abundant creatures on Earth. Learn about the emerging science and evidence for widespread insect decline, and what we can do to help reverse the trend. Professor Douglas’ talk is part of our “A Talk in the Garden” series of gardening talks.
Maggie Douglas, PhD, is an assistant professor of Environmental Science at Dickinson College in Carlisle. She studies the ecology of agricultural landscapes with an emphasis on the roles of insects as friend and foe to food production. Her research is oriented to practical application through dialogue with farmers, beekeepers, conservation organizations, and policy makers. Recently, her focus has been on understanding and reducing the negative effects of pesticides on pollinators.
