Pennsylvania: A Peaceable Kingdom
June 7 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Craighead House welcomes reenactor Kirk Brown who portrays America’s first and foremost horticulturist, John Bartram. Not only was he integral in introducing more than 200 PA native plants to much of the world at a time when new discovery and knowledge were still expanding, but he was also a good friend of George Washington, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson. This lively talk, Pennsylvania: A Peaceable Kingdom, is about early native plants and what life was like during the Colonial period here in PA. Colonial reenactor Kirk Brown is an award-winning garden designer and national lecturer on plants, the environment, history, garden design and other horticultural topics. As a reenactor, he brings the past to life in a fun, exciting program for all.
