Michaux State Forest Visitor Center Survey Now Open!

A new Michaux District Forest Visitor Center is being built south of Route 30 in Michaux State Forest.  This visitor center is envisioned to be the best-of-the-best Bureau of Forestry visitor center that will help to drive investment in Adams, Cumberland, and Franklin counties and encourage safe, educational, and fun visitation to the Michaux State Forest for local users and tourists alike.

The Michaux State Forest is one of Pennsylvania’s most visited forests and experiences a lot of outdoor recreation visitors – well over 800,000 visitors each year – while it manages timber, forests, and native wild plants that are critical habitat for wildlife. It is also the source of drinking water for over 60,000 local residents. Michaux State Forest, with support from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, identified the need for a visitor center for the public and a management office for staff operations. This site (see map below) was identified as the optimal place to invest through an extensive process.

The South Mountain Partnership, a regional conservation network of local partners, is pleased to support this effort by gathering feedback to provide to those planning and designing the Visitor Center. Please share your thoughts about this exciting new regional resource below.

This ten question survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. All questions are optional, and the survey is anonymous unless you choose to share your contact information.
