The Cumberland Valley Rails-to-Trails Council is launching efforts to expand the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail from its current terminus in Newville north into Carlisle. This project will install informational kiosks at the Newville trailhead and at a new Allen Road trailhead in Carlisle. Additional signage will be installed along the new one-mile stretch of trail accessed by this Allen Road trailhead. Collectively, these efforts will improve access to and safe use of a new one-mile stretch of the rail trail that is the first step in the eventual 11-mile extension of the trail north into Carlisle.
